HOW DO I GET TO SURF & SAND LAGUNA BEACH?

Surf & Sand Laguna Beach is settled on the Laguna coastline, just south of Newport Beach. The Resort is an approximately 1-hour drive from LAX and an approximately 20-minute drive from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.

Directions from LAX and John Wayne Airport
1. Follow the signs exiting the airport that lead to the 405 Freeway South.
2. Stay on Interstate 405 until you reach the 133 (Laguna Canyon Hwy) toward Laguna Beach.
3. The Hwy ends at Highway 1 (PCH), then take a left (south). Surf & Sand Laguna Beach is 1 mile south on the ocean side of the highway.

Directions from San Diego
1. Take 5 North toward Los Angeles.
2. Take the “Beach Cities” Exit and head north on “Beach Cities” Highway 1 North.
3. Head north approximately 10 miles. Surf & Sand Laguna Beach is located on the ocean side of the highway.

WHICH AIRPORT IS CLOSEST TO SURF & SAND LAGUNA BEACH?

John Wayne airport is a short 20-minute drive from Newport Coast. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and San Diego Airport (SAN) are approximately an hour away from the resort.

WHAT TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT?

The gateway to Southern California and the closest airport to Laguna Beach is John Wayne Airport, Orange County (SNA). It is conveniently located 16 miles from the resort. Travel in style with rates starting at $210 + gratuity one way. Travel time is approximately 30-45 minutes. Concierge team will be delighted to set up private transportation to or from the airport.

WHAT ARE CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT TIMES?

Check-in at Surf & Sand Laguna Beach is 4 p.m. The room is yours until 11:00 a.m. on your day of departure. If you wish to check-out later than 11:00 a.m., please contact the front desk on the day of your depature.

WHAT DO I DO IF I REQUIRE EARLY CHECK-IN OR LATE CHECK-OUT?

We would love to accommodate your travel needs. You may request early check-in at the time of booking. Please note we cannot guarantee until the day of check-in if the room will be available before 4 p.m. To request late check-out, please call the front desk on the day of your departure (additional fees may apply).

Do you offer day passes for the pool?

Yes. A limited number of day passes are available through our partner, ResortPass. Availability and booking details can be found here.

WHAT IS YOUR PET POLICY?

We allow 2 dogs per room, each 40lbs. and under, at Surf & Sand Resort Laguna Beach. There is a non-refundable deep-cleaning fee of $250 per stay. Click here to learn about our Pet Program.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RESORT FEE?

A $65 daily resort fee is applied to each hotel reservation and includes amenities and services designed to enhance your experience at Surf & Sand Laguna Beach.

IS THERE A PARKING FEE?

Our valet parking service will take care of your vehicle and has a $75 overnight fee. 

Day parking is $40 and restaurant validation $15.

CAN I SMOKE IN MY ROOM?

Rooms and suites are non-smoking. If there is evidence of the smoking of any substance in your non-smoking accommodation, you will incur a fee of $500 for standard rooms. Please note that e-cigs, vapors, hookahs, marijuana, etc. fall under our non-smoking policy.

CAN I SMOKE ANYWHERE ON THE RESORT?

The Laguna Beach City Council approved a ban on smoking and vaping in all public spaces that began on June 23, 2017. The ordinance bans smoking throughout the city. A fine of $500 will be given for any violation. The city already prohibits smoking at beaches and parks. WHAT IS SURF & SAND LAGUNA BEACH'S CANCELLATION POLICY?

Currently—and until further notice—we ask for 72-hour notice of cancellation for full refund or rebooking for all individual reservations.

HOW MANY ROOMS ARE REQUIRED FOR A GROUP BLOCK AND WHO DO I CONTACT ABOUT THIS?

Six rooms or more are required for a group block. Request to speak with Sales/Catering for booking information. Call us at 844-489-3650 or email us at Surfsales@jcresorts.com.

DOES THE RESORT OFFER ENTERTAINMENT AT THE HOTEL?

We normally offer live music on weekends at Bella Vista Terrace. Hours and availability may vary depending on the season.

IS LAUNDRY SERVICE AVAILABLE?

We offer laundry and dry-cleaning services. Please contact guest services for details.

OUTSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILM SHOOTS?

Professional photography and videography is not permitted without prior written approval. Additional fees may be required. All wedding-related photography is exclusive to guests who have booked their celebration through our Sales & Events team.

What are Aquaterra Spa's hours?

We're open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours can shift seasonally, so we always recommend confirming your exact appointment window when you book.

How early should I arrive before my treatment?

Plan to arrive 30 minutes ahead of your scheduled time. That gives you a few minutes to check in, change, and ease into the experience before your treatment begins. Arriving late simply means less time in treatment, since sessions still end at the original scheduled time.

What's Aquaterra Spa's cancellation policy?

We hold all appointments with a credit card and ask for at least 24 hours' notice if your plans change. Same-day cancellations or rescheduling aren't possible, and no-shows or late cancellations are charged the full price of the scheduled service.

Can I visit Aquaterra Spa if I'm not staying at Surf & Sand?

Aquaterra Spa welcomes both resort guests and outside visitors by appointment — you don't need to be staying overnight to book a treatment. Just give us a call to check availability for your preferred date and time.

Where is Aquaterra Spa located, and how far is it from the airport?

You'll find us at Surf & Sand Laguna Beach, 1555 S Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA 92651 — about 20 to 30 minutes from John Wayne Airport and roughly an hour from LAX, right along the scenic stretch of Pacific Coast Highway.

Can spa guests use the pool or beach?

Beach and pool access comes standard with an overnight stay through the resort fee, and a limited number of day passes for non-hotel guests are available through our partner, ResortPass.

Is parking available for spa guests?

Yes. Valet parking runs $75 overnight, day parking is $40, and spa/restaurant validation brings that down to $15 — just mention your spa appointment at check-in.

Does Aquaterra Spa have ocean views?

It does — our couple's treatment room looks straight out over the Pacific, and the entire spa sits inside Surf & Sand, directly on the Laguna Beach coastline.

Spa Etiquette & Preparation

What if I have an injury, allergy, or health condition?

Give our spa specialists a call before your visit so we can take it into account and tailor your treatment safely — the more we know ahead of time, the better we can take care of you.

Can I bring outside food or drinks into the spa?

Outside food and drink are not permitted inside the spa treatment building, and that includes alcohol — this policy is enforced consistently to keep the space calm and consistent for every guest.

Are cell phones allowed in the spa?

We ask guests to keep phones off or silenced in treatment areas and shared lounges, so everyone can fully unwind without interruption.

What should I wear during my treatment?

Whatever makes you comfortable. Most guests forgo clothing during treatments, but you're always welcome to keep some on — either way, you'll be carefully draped throughout, with only the area being treated exposed at any time.

Should I leave my jewelry and valuables at the spa?

We'd recommend leaving valuables at home or in your guestroom safe instead. Jewelry can get in the way of treatment techniques, and you'll likely be asked to remove it before your service starts.

What happens if I miss my appointment without canceling?

Guests who do not arrive for their scheduled appointment or cancel within 24 hours of the appointment time will be charged the full value of the reserved service.

Do you require a credit card to book?

Yes, every appointment is guaranteed with a credit card at the time of booking.

Is there a minimum age to visit Aquaterra Spa?

Guests must be 16 or older to receive spa treatments.

Treatments, Pricing & What to Expect

Is it safe to get a massage or facial while pregnant?

Many of our treatments can be adapted for expectant guests. Please give our spa team a call before booking so we can recommend the right service and any precautions for your stage of pregnancy.

Is gratuity included in the price of a spa treatment?

A 20% service charge is automatically added to every treatment and shared among the team who cared for you, so there's no need to calculate a separate tip unless you'd like to recognize exceptional service.

Can I request a male or female massage therapist?

Just let us know your preference when you book and we'll do our best to accommodate it, based on availability.

What spa treatments are available at Aquaterra?

Our menu spans four categories — massage, body treatments, organic skin care, and wellness programs including yoga — delivered across eight private treatment rooms plus a dedicated ocean-view couple's suite. Whether you're after deep tissue work, a facial, or a full coastal reset, there's a treatment built around it.

Does Aquaterra Spa offer couples massages and treatments?

Yes, our ocean-view couple's treatment room is one of the most requested spaces at the spa, especially for anniversaries, honeymoons, and special occasion stays in Laguna Beach.

Is an Aquaterra Spa Membership the same as a hotel rewards program?

No — it is a standalone wellness membership focused entirely on spa and fitness access at Surf & Sand. It's separate from any hotel loyalty program, and you don't need to be a registered hotel guest to use it.
