Whether you seek a spot to hang with a BFF, a kick-start to a healthier lifestyle, or some seaside serenity, this coastal enclave has a spa for you.

Casual, cute, fun—and no hush-hush halls. Manis with mimosas? How about a “Nail Nook” with an all-day happy hour? Well, why not? Cinnamon-vanilla scrubs that leave skin smelling like fresh-baked cupcakes? Yum yum. Brownies (and not the low-fat kind, either) in a spa? Gotta love it. Aquaterra Spa at Surf & Sand Resort (surfandsandresort. com) doesn’t take itself terribly seriously. Instead, it aims to put the “treat” back in treatments.

“We want our spa to be fun,” says spa director Cindy Boody. “And a day without a brownie is not a day I want to have.”

The spa is cozy, with eight treatment rooms, plus a private cottage-like “Nail Nook” and coed relaxation room with fireplace, shag rug, and outdoor patio. Therapists offer poolside chair massages. The gift shop is stocked with cute flip-flops, jewelry, and beachwear—“things everyone wants to snag up,” Boody says.

Treatments, such as a mint scalp massage, cinnamon-vanilla scrub, and gingerbread body-butter wraps, incorporate the spa’s new hand-blended “Made Fresh Daily” products that incorporate good-enough-to-eat seasonal ingredients. Spa-goers even get a recipe card to re-create the concoctions at home.
